Tanzania has world most beautiful game lodges and safari possiblities. But it also has great beaches. And you do not have to fly to Zanzibar to find them. There are great lodges near Dar es Salaam on the mainland. Staying on the mainland sometimes saves time - and money. Dubai to Africa recommends three great places. There are much more lodge accommodations near Dar es Salaam but we would recommend the following three.
Ras Kutani
Ras Kutani is set on a crescent of white sandy beach, washed by the gentle surf of the temperate Indian Ocean. The lodge is situated only 35 kilometers South of the port of Dar es Salaam and offers the perfect hideaway. The setting ensures the ultimate feeling of being on a tropical island. Saadani
Saadani, a Tent With A View is situated in an excellent position on the shores of the Indian Ocean just outside the northern boundary of Saadani National Park. The setting is superb, being beautiful and wonderfully tranquil. The camp is set amongst coconut palms which open up onto a wonderful pristine beach of white sand.

Foot safaris combining the bush and the beach, birdwatching by canoe on the Mafue are all possible.
